SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS

In the first part of year of 2007, CFMA got involved in supporting of Our Troops.  We sent packages to the men and women of the armed services serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. We started with $1000 for goodies and mailing. Each package had a cover letter letting that person know who and what CFMA is all about. It also included our website and a note that we are behind them and appreciate their service to the United States of America. The response back from the troops has been great. They appreciate the packages but even more they like knowing we support them.

We have also had donations from our muster folks to include in the packages.

At our annual October meeting I requested another $1000 to continue sending packages to the troops. God Bless CFMA, it was increased to $2500.

During December just in time for Christmas, 50 packages were sent. Each box had some Christmas lights and decorations,  food, phone cards, some games, snacks and personal stuff. Each box also had 5 to 6 Christmas cards. Some were from kids from schools in California and Washington, some cards came from local businesses. We placed cards in several businesses for their customers to sign. Well we still had some money left so in February we sent out a bunch more. So far to date CFMA has sent just over 180 packages to Our Troops.

We just finished our annual March meeting and once again CFMA has been most generous having approved another $2500 in support of Our Troops.

I will add to this as we continue to send packages.
